BMTC - unleashed................................... part deux
ok,so ur ready.
During my 3 and a half years in bangalore, i have discovered a few truths about the BMTC
varun's guide to the BMTC - complete Do's and Dont's (Believe me! u dont want to do the donts)
As many ppl wud have already experienced it, there's no use of explicitly stating the maddening and chaotic Bangalore rush hour. thus here are a few pointers and warm-ups
training:
1. daily sprints should help u a lot.
2. arm strengthening exercises are advised.
3.neck flexibility movements are recommended.
4. leg strengthening is a must.
ok, now to put all of these into action
HOW TO board a bus in majestic in the peak hours
1. choose only automatic door buses as the others are already full from god knows where!!!!
2. the automatic door buses open up only on their respective platforms, and thus at least give the average commuter hope of getting a seat.
3.be ready to run along with the bus until the man with the steering decides to stop, trampling and stamping as many people's feet as possible.
4.the feet stamping has 2 advantages;
a. it gets u ahead of them because u are still running with the bus while they are still massaging their feet.
b. its important to keep running because if by mistake u stop u r sure to get an earful of the most choice sanskrit(i hope u get what i mean) words.
5.assuming the bus has stopped (finally!!!)things to do:
a. get a position close to the door on either side.
b. if not possible stand exactly in the middle of the crowd (only for experienced ppl like me)
c. keep asking the ppl in front of u to allow the ppl in the bus to get down while pushing them as hard as possible.(this will earn u sympathy from the ppl disembarking)
d.when the last person gets down(assuming he can :)) push like there's no tomorrow.
e. here's where ur neck's flexibility and the strength in yer arms come into the picture.
f. be sure to have yer neck pushed to the limit, when this happens use yer elbows freely and strike every living thing in sight.
6. if u have followed the above instructions well, u r inside the bus, move quickly cause ppl are coming in from windows(yes,i 'v seen it happen),doors etc
7.get the first available seat, there's no time to choose. the english proverb a seat underneath is worth two in the other bus aptly describes the situation.
8. now avoid looking upwards because there are always old people waitin for an offer (the decent sort) and others who will demand a seat.
9. oops i forgot an important pointer. feel free to throw away or innocently shift kerchiefs and other's personal belongings put in from the windows.
10. exactly as yer stop draws closer, vacate the seat for an elderly person. this will earn u brownie points.
11. NEVER sit in between two old people. they normally discuss the state of bangalore with more water coming out of their mouth than words.
thats it for now.
hope it helps.........................
