SORRY

this is a poem i wrote in 5 minutes based on a real life experience

this is the story
of a young man
who often thought
"change the world" i can

he had seen anguish
he had seen pain
untill he decided
to never see them again

he wanted to smile,
to use his guile,
the gift of gab, he had
a truly jovial lad

All his friends liked
his non-stop chatter
whether it was a joke
or a serious matter

he made new friends
really quick
of his jokes and pranks
they were really sick

he sounded funny
not hurting others
careful enough not to
ruffle the feathers

one day he made a new friend

he knew it was different
the feeling was new
the bond grew stronger
as the days just flew

the trust was complete
a strange security
for the friendship
involved great maturity

she shared with him
what was unknown to others
he listened to and adviced
her as would her brothers

he made her laugh
when her mind was troubled
which made him happy
as the joy was doubled

till one day, the
memories of a troubled past
came back to him and
left him aghast

inside him a snake reared
its ugly fangs
waiting to strike
without any guilty pangs

it was his misfortune
to have her as prey
to have to face his
angst ridden spray

she felt cheated
and the trust was melting
she maintained her dignity
her silence was denting

he realized his folly
as soon as he made it
he felt angry at himself
for having ill treated her

she forgave him too soon
he knew this was not a boon
more than relief , a new
feeling emerged

the fear of not being
trusted again
the fear of causing
irrevocable pain

he became silent
he couldn't smile
others complained that
this was not his style

for his quiteness
they asked him a reason
he was not brave enough
to admit his treason

all the time thinking
he would lose this friend
"serves me right" he thought
because he had been a fiend

the powerful emotions
surged through his mind
manifesting themselves as tears
for someone who was always kind

he would do anything to
thwart this fear
to gain back the trust
of someone so dear

she forgave him when
she knew he was clear
he hopes that after all this
to her, he is more near

he is greatful for the
second chance
to him it is like the
happiness of a lifetime
in advance

Well, if she has still not forgiven you, she must be crazy!
